Me, an Intellectual: So how come the only information the public knows about the Winter Soldier is that his name is James Buchanan Barnes? If his identity was revealed in the SHIELD/Hydra leak, why wasn’t his kill list, or information on his capture/torture/the Mindwipe Chair? How was Tony not already aware that he killed Howard and Maria? How was Bucky not already exonerated in the court of public opinion or any court of law, considering he acted under literally irresistible duress? And if his kill list WASN’T published, how did Steve find out that the Winter Soldier killed the Starks? Zola never stated as much. Was it in the file Natasha brought from Kiev? If so, and Steve couldn’t bring himself to tell Tony about it, why didn’t Natasha tell Tony? How come no one CARES that the Winter Soldier is James Buchanan Barnes? The fact that Bucky Barnes was Captain Rogers’ best friend is public knowledge. Did no one ever approach Steve about it? Did Steve never attempt to defend Bucky’s good name publicly? None of the Avengers except for Sam and Natasha (and maybe Wanda?) thought that Steve might be looking for Bucky, or offer to help him? And on a separate note, how did the issue of sovereignty and SHIELD/Avengers-related border crossing never come up before now? Why is Steve okay with barging into Nigeria when he was angry that the Lemurian Star was trespassing in Indian waters? Why was the Nigerian government not alerted that Rumlow was in Lagos? For that matter why was the Sokovian government not alerted that Ultron was in Novigrad, or the Avengers before him? How did 117 countries draft and agree on a novel-length accord in a month with no one knowing about it? Why were the Avengers only given three days to read and sign the Accords? Why were the Avengers not asked for their input? How do the Avengers not already have their own legal team to negotiate on their behalf? Why was SHIELD not reorganized and the old paradigm restored, or a reformed one put in place? Just because you destroy the HQ doesn’t mean you dismantle the organization. Why did Tony bring a 14y/o into a superhero fight? Did Peter have to sign the Accords? How can he do that when he’s a minor? If he didn’t why wasn’t Peter and/or Tony arrested after the airport fight? Why does Bucky say he’s not going to kill anyone, and then hits a guy with a cinder block, throws someone down the stairs, rips a moving motorcycle out from under its driver, and tosses a bomb onto a busy overpass? Did he not think any of that might kill someone? Why was this movie not content to be incompetent by itself, but to make other movies in the canon look equally stupid? WHY ARE WE STILL DISCUSSING THIS MOVIE AS IF IT HAS ANYTHING TO OFFER BESIDES COOL FIGHT CHOREOGRAPHY.
