I mean this is great and this is beautiful and should be what’s done everywhere but statistically, the largest percentage of rapes are committed by the same minority group of men. A seminar on consent when they are 20 isn’t going to change that, it would take societal re-engineering in the long term and the fact is for every woman who is still at risk, that seminar or instruction isn’t going to save them on campus. I’ve worked on a campus that has several seminars like that for years. So here’s what I do, in ADDITION to teaching men that they can’t “stick their dick wherever they want.”

-i am setting up RAD courses on campus, for free, flexible, for any woman or non binary person who wants them

– I am reminding female and male students in these seminars that this nail polish exists, that rohypnol tastes strongly of salt, and that sipping rather than chugging drinks is many times safer

-i am offering to my friends and acquaintances to teach basic self defense moves from judo, jujitsu and sambo that focus on efficiency and lethality against a larger opponent

-i am showing friends where they can legally obtain tactical pens, batons, pepper spray and other concealed carry self defense tools

-i am watching the back of every friend whenever we are out or anywhere and teaching others to do the same

Having been a survivor of this myself I can certify that not only is this not just a thing men do, but that it’s also not a sexual thing most of the time, its a power thing, committed by sociopaths, who know what they are doing, are good at it, and will not be stopped by someone “enlightening” them. They are purveyors of a violent crime and the language they understand is violence that makes them think twice. So check your drinks, learn to defend yourself or surround yourself with people who do, don’t trust easily and be ready for a fight. Until our culture as a whole can change, that’s the best defense, unfortunately.
