macaulay culkin was forced into his career by his father through manipulation, gaslighting and humiliation as well as physical abuse. at fourteen, instead of hitting him back like his father demanded, macaulay called the police and put a stop to the suffering that he and his family were facing. when his parents went bankrupt, macaulay offered up his own money to his mother and siblings and stepped up as the father figure to his five younger siblings. he’s publicly supported lgbt and pro-black charities for decades (x, x) and dedicated a good two pages of his book to naming conservatives and abusers that he hates. he risked his own reputation to defend michael jackson in court and treats michael’s daughter, paris, like his own. macaulay culkin is an amazing person whose made all of us happy over the years, and 2018 WILL be the year we repay him by supporting his hipster lifestyle website.
Avengers Moodboard: “There was an idea, Stark knows this, called the Avengers Initiative. The idea was to bring together a group of remarkable people, see if they could become something more. See if they could work together when we needed them to to fight the battles we never could.“
I know you said marvel aesthetic so i did the original avengers?? if you would like some other characters too I’d be happy to add them in! @thekeyofmemories
It’s kind of fucked up when you realize the image of the quaint 1950s leave it to beaver family with the housewife and hard working husband is a propaganda model that had to be adopted to justify stripping women of their jobs they were able to get during WWII. Like women literally proved they could keep an industria wartime economy afloat without men and society had to craft some serious insidious shit to get them back into the home.
or how bout you let the 50s time be ya know.. the 50s??!! those were the times, thats what happened back then, you werent alive so you didnt have to go through it. stop living so much in the past and focus on today and the future thats ahead of you
Hey I don’t know if you’ve heard, but we have this thing called history, its like the study of the past. It lets us learn more about times when we weren’t alive so that we can understand what life was like back then and how it impacts us today. Because, I’m not sure if you have heard about this or not, but most experts agree that the past effects the present and shapes our values, beliefs, and customs today. Like a lot of 1950s ideals are still brought up today to justify all sorts of nostolgia that whitewashes racism in america.
But why am I arguing with an ageplay blog who is throwing down on “leave the 50s alone” like some sort of kinky chris crocker without the good taste in pop idols.
Being part of the social justice culture or the “stay woke” culture, I usually thought that the main purposes were to:
1) Unlearn what was taught to you
2) Learn what was never taught to you
3) Educate those around you with the knowledge you have
But you see…
You will come across people that will ask questions that may sound problematic but they just genuinely are confused about the matter and just want to learn
I had a white girl, sweet as hell, that was curious about why White people can’t say the N-word but Black people can say it.
Now… If this was Black Tumblr/Twitter, y’all wouldve ate her alive and spit her out. Like, why would you ask a question like that????
I didnt take any offense to the question, because again, you have to educate.
I broke it down simply…
“Bitch was a term used by men against women… If you call your female friend ‘my bitch’, theres nothing wrong with that… but if a guy did the same thing to his female friend, that wouldnt not look too good…”
Then she understood! She doesnt like when men call her or other women bitches but she noticed how women call each other bitches (almost) all the time in a friendly context.
Some SJW ppl would resort to just straight ridicule. Like relentlessly roast you, and you just wanted to ask a question, get your answer, and just go.
I understand some people would come outta nowhere with smartass comments and deserve that roasting, im 120% for that, but yall really need to learn the difference between those 2 groups of people.
I remember saying/doing something problematic not too long ago. This guy just went off on me, called me stupid, and vaguely explained why what I did was problematic. When I asked for a more in-depth answer as to why it was an issue, he didnt want to explain, he didnt have the “energy” to explain but had plenty of energy to say what i did was wrong and i was stupid to do it.
To this day, I STILL dont know exactly what was wrong but I am avoiding that action for sure.
To cut it shortly for yall,
Some people genuinely dont know what they do/say was wrong. Some ask questions to learn and educate themselves. Relax…
Ridicule or slander shouldnt be a first option to everything, if anything, its more counterproductive. Not to mention yall do this for notes and attention on social media.
My fave thing about Black Panther is that they had the perfect setup for the Jabari to be the villains. The challenge, the black and white aesthetic, the toothy masks and secluded mountain lair surrounded by ice and snow and rock… and instead, they turn out to be cool warrior dudes led by a nerd who makes ill-timed (and hilarious) jokes and who’s only stated issue with T’Challa’s reign (besides an old feud that’s been pretty much been left alone for a couple hundred years) is that he doesn’t think it’s a good idea for a sixteen year old to be running all of Wakanda’s R&D department, which considering he’d never met Shuri before is a very valid thing to be worried about.
