There is surely a heterosexual explanation for this.
There’s none 😂. They’ve been flirting since they met (and have been married) for nearly 50 years. In 1973, someone sent a SamSteve letter to the editor wrt Captain America and Falcon, echoing some of the same frustrations we have with same-sex unions today. I transcribed it and I first saw the letter and panel in question via this Tumblr post:
Letter text:
Dear Bullpen, FAN-TASTIC!! Just read CAPTAIN AMERICA #158, and the third panel on page five (by your numbering) has got to be the greatest panel ever to appear in a comic! More was said (and even more so, implied) in this one panel than most comic book titles say in their whole lifetime. As if it wasn’t already great enough, my regard for Steve Engleheart’s writing ability has increased immensely just because of this one panel.
The really sad part about it is our society dictates that all Cap and Falcon could do was “look” at each other, because “they are men, and more would embarrass.” I hope that one day soon there will be no such “rules of behavior,” and everyone an look at everyone else as a person and not necessarily have to change any of their actions or words just because the other person is a male or female. Maybe some day…

Panel the letter above refers to, from Captain America Volume 1, #162, (1973):
The day after The Last Jedi came out I was shopping for a birthday present for a friend at a nerd store and these two guys walk up behind me, obviously wanting to look at where I was looking. One of them said “probably buying something for her boyfriend…stick to blow jobs bitch it’s not like you know what you’re looking at” so I turned around and say “Luke Skywalker dies.”
They look at me speechless, they hadn’t seen the movie yet. “What did you say?”
“I said Luke Skywaler dies. He force projects himself to fight Kylo Ren and then dies. And if you don’t get the fuck away from me I’ll tell you how Snoke dies too”
“nasa gone rogue” sounds like they’re stealing rockets and going to the moon illegally or something
but nope, “rogue” these days is a word that means “posting real climate change facts that your president doesn’t want you to know”
like if you support nasa posting real climate change facts that the orange dictator doesn’t want you to know. reblog if you support nasa stealing rockets and going to the moon illegally.
macaulay culkin was forced into his career by his father through manipulation, gaslighting and humiliation as well as physical abuse. at fourteen, instead of hitting him back like his father demanded, macaulay called the police and put a stop to the suffering that he and his family were facing. when his parents went bankrupt, macaulay offered up his own money to his mother and siblings and stepped up as the father figure to his five younger siblings. he’s publicly supported lgbt and pro-black charities for decades (x, x) and dedicated a good two pages of his book to naming conservatives and abusers that he hates. he risked his own reputation to defend michael jackson in court and treats michael’s daughter, paris, like his own. macaulay culkin is an amazing person whose made all of us happy over the years, and 2018 WILL be the year we repay him by supporting his hipster lifestyle website.
Ppl act like preventing the spread of hateful ideology is a slippery slope to obscene restrictions on free speech, but don’t see the spread of hateful ideology as a slippery slope toward…ppl embracing hateful ideology
They also think people facing consequences for being bigots encroaches their freedom-of-speech, but have no problem demanding the censorship of people expressing distaste with the aforementioned bigotry.
