Peter Dutton made the bullshit implication that if we bring a refugee from Manus/Nauru onto Australia that takes away the position from someone “who really needs it” going through the humanitarian program which is nonsense because the entire idea that genuine refugees must suffer in indefinite limbo on Manus/Nauru is a complete construction of the government that they maintain for the sake of appearing strong to racists. Plus he wanted to fast track white farmers from South Africa so either his portfolio has the power to create more space for refugee intake or he wanted to take away refugee spots from those in need for the sake of white people. It’s not a “them vs other refugees” situation it’s compassion vs the government’s zero tolerance policy and racism and I know which one I stand with.
