Honestly, my one fear about the BBC adaptation of les mis is that the fandom might grow huge again.
My fear is that it grows huge with people who hate the musical thanks to Andrew Davies not being able to stop saying it’s awful and journalists falling over themselves to black his boots on the matter.
I have fear for the whole adaptation even if photos and cast for now prove that there will be a lot of interesting scenes that I always wanted to see and that they were never introduced in any movies.
And yeah I know it’s scary because in the les mis fandom/tag we know each other at this point, we are always the same people making headcanons and draws and stuff and it’s very cozy BUT!! Consider this: NEW MATERIALS FOR STUFF.
Also: yeah, the fandom will grow, new people will be interested in les mis and we have to expect everything and there is the possibility that people that don’t like other versions of les mis will be around on the tag BUT also there will be new people //really// interested in les mis we can teach them stuff from the other adaptions (book, movies, musicals, comics, etc…) that they don’t know because they were not around and they will probably really like them and there will be a lot of new stuff in this fandom.
Ans the people that will not really like Les Mis or that will appear just because of the bbc series…. well guys, it happened before due to other events, they will eventually disappear after the “bang” of the series and only the people really interested will remain.
It already happened. A lot of times. Because there are really a lot of versions of les mis and there will probably be much more, so we should not be afraid.
Love. 💖💖💖
And yeah, once I was afraid too, but then one of my friend gave me this beautiful positive speech about the les mis fandom and now I really believe in these words and I hope that every other les mis fan will be relieved after reading this.
