The whole “(insert thing is illegal and it still happens anyway) so why do you think gun control will help?” argument is perhaps one of the most lazy ways to admit you haven’t given a single shit of thought about the issue at hand. Somehow gun control is the only issue where “well laws aren’t perfect SO WHY BOTHER HAVING THEM?” applies. (Anti-gun control people oddly don’t seem to be campaigning to make heroin legal so guess they’re hypocrites). Gun control won’t magically solve every single gun related homicide/suicide but gee it sure would greatly decrease the frequency of those issues as demonstrated by: reality. Gun control isn’t a hypothetical idea people are afraid to explore because of unknown consequences. Gun control works. Full stop. And finding a rare outlier where gun control didn’t stop a single act of violence isn’t a good argument, it’s demonstrating how little you understand about trends vs individual events. If gun control decreases the overall deaths/injuries but a death still happens it doesn’t invalidate gun control, it just means that life isn’t perfectly controllable and all you can do is work to decrease and minimise harm. Something people who are pro-gun don’t seem to want.

Gun control doesn’t work. More guns, less crime, less violent crime, less murder. 800,000 crimes committed with guns yearly, 3.5 million self defense uses yearly. 100 million people were murdered by their own government last century and they all had gun control. This crap didn’t happen at schools until democrats made schools gun free zones. Get rid of gun free zones. Let people defend themselves.

I’m sorry I can’t hear you over the sound of no mass shootings at all in my country since tighter gun control measures were put in after a single mass shooting in the 90s. Also: tighter gun control works in the US as seen by stats in a state by state analysis so even with a different culture the change in accessibility of guns has a positive effect. Knock knock. Who’s there? Reality. And it doesn’t care about rhetoric it cares about facts – facts like how gun control works. I could cite a hundred different studies and articles as to why gun control works and more guns lead to more deaths/suicides and more crime but I feel you won’t bother to read them. You clearly have access to the internet. You can find them yourself. There’s no excuse on being so ignorant as to think gun control doesn’t work.
